Job Details

• Weekly Estimated Pay: $5,040-$5,400
• Location: San Francisco, California
• Setting: Inpatient academic medical center
• Start Date: August 31, 2026
• Assignment Length: 20 weeks
• Shift Duration: 12-hour day shifts
• Hours Per Week: 36
• Schedule: 3x12-hour shifts during the week with an additional 8-hour Saturday shift every other week
• Patient Population: Adult
• EMR: Epic

Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of inpatient experience in an academic medical center supporting complex spine and neurosurgery patients
• Experience managing pre-operative and post-operative spinal surgery patients required
• Active California Nurse Practitioner license required
• Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner required; accepted certifications include ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, or ACNPC
• California DEA with Schedule II authority required
• AHA BLS certification required
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume neurosurgery, spine surgery, or neuroscience service
• COVID-19 vaccination required, with medical or religious exemptions only

Responsibilities

• Provide inpatient clinical support for adult neurosurgery and spine patients
• Manage post-operative patient care with a focus on recovery, discharge readiness, and coordination of services
• Collaborate with advanced practice providers, physicians, residents, and the interdisciplinary care team
• Assist with care coordination and discharge planning for a busy inpatient neuroscience service
• Document patient care accurately in Epic
• Support efficient patient throughput while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and team members regarding treatment plans and follow-up needs
